It was opened in 1807 and its plan was designed by Luigi Canonica. Today’s Arena is the seat of many outdoor concerts. It has an elliptical shape, 238 meters long and 116 meters wide and could hold up to 30,000 viewers; now restored it can accommodate 10,000. In its history, it has been the site of football matches, cycling and athletic competitions. Since 2002, it has been named for the great journalist Gianni Brera.
