It divides the city into two and is the largest waterway in Venice. It winds in vivid loops for four-kilometer, drawing a large one, with a width ranging from 30 to 70 m and a depth of 5.20 m. Along its banks lied about 200 splendid palaces, built on the ancient foundations of Venetian aristocracy. It has become the most elegant street in the world. It is crossed by three bridges: the Battalion Bridge, the Rialto Bridge and the Academy Bridge.
