This is one of the world’s largest Medieval events, featuring more than 400 artists from all over Italy, four days and four nights of drinking, eating, dancing and singing, and a Castignano full of life. Castignano, a beautiful medieval hamlet perched on the hills of Piceno, abandons the present and dives into the past. In their epic, the Templar Knights who fought covered in rags in the name of their faith in God and in the Church, found that their glory was followed by excommunication, the Inquisition and torture.
For four days, torches take the place of lamp posts and the hamlet comes alive in a triumph of sounds and dances, voices and flames, jesters and monks. The taverns offer strictly medieval menus, and many conferences and exhibitions are held. The evenings offer many concerts, and artisans work by hand along the streets of the old town centre, as they once did.
