Every year since 1977, on the second Sunday in September, a procession of historic vessels piloted by sailors in period costumes makes its way along the Brenta. Riviera in Fiore has always attracted huge numbers of visitors to the wonderful aristocratic villas that line the river. The event recalls the important encounter between King Henri III of France and the Doge of Venice at Villa Contarini dei Leoni in Mira in 1574. More than 1,000 participants, all in traditional Venetian dress, take part in a procession of almost 100 vessels that depart from the magnificent Villa Pisani in Stra, making their way to Villa Contarini and then to Villa Foscari. This is followed by a traditional lunch and the presentation of awards to the best crafts and riversides. An unmissable event characterized by the natural beauty of the river and the elegant historical costumes and villas on the Riviera del Brenta.
