For three days every year, Modena plays host to Italy’s greatest cultural philosophers. Every September, a key word is selected around which the whole event will revolve: in the past the following have been chosen, for example, “art”, “nature” and “fortune”. Since 2001, many national and international philosophers have gathered together to consider contemporary events in a series of debates, creating a climate of social exchange and high culture using exhibitions, films, concerts and philosophical dinners.
All of the scheduled events are completely free, and they are held in the city’s most beautiful piazze and palazzi, such as Piazza Grande and Palazzo Santa Margherita with its cloisters. The Festival is based not only in Modena but also in the nearby towns of Carpi and Sassuolo.
