The Festa del Redentore – or Feast of the Redeemer – in Venice is one of the city’s most famous and deeply felt events. It takes place on the third weekend of July each year, and consists of two whole days of entertainment and tradition. The religious element mixes with the profane, and thousands of visitors turn up every year to celebrate with the Venetians, who begin their preparations on the Saturday morning. From early afternoon onwards, we advise you take your places on the Grand Canal to witness the entire Venetian fleet in gala dress: Gondolas, Gondolete Batèle, Còfani, Mascarète, Bragozzi, Sanpieròte and Sàndoli. Savour a typical drink and a traditional Venetian snack to get the full experience. After the Patriarch of Venice’s blessing on the steps of the Church of the Redentore, it’s the grand finale, the moment everyone’s been waiting for: a spectacular firework display that lights up the entire lagoon with a thousand colours and an unforgettable atmosphere.
