It takes place every year on August 26th in the main streets of Ischia: it is a parade with the participation of many people of all ages, wearing costumes faithfully reproduced from the historical times. It starts from the Greek era of the Pithecusa settlers, passing through the Roman Aenaria, the Vittoria Colonna Renaissance, to the sovereigns of Spain with the d’Avalos family. This unique event is attended not only by the inhabitants of the colourful village of Sant’Alessandro, but also by numerous tourists from all over the world.
The parade is characterized by the presence of carriages that reach the white church of the village dedicated to the saint, where the traditional mass is held; at its end there are celebrations with music, dances and tastings of typical local products. An event that combines history, tradition and originality, which is also filmed on live national and international transmissions.
