Straddling Marche and Umbria there is a magic and enchanting place full of history and mystery, the Monti Sibillini National Park. Fascinating both in summer and winter, it is a paradise for sports enthusiasts with its hiking trails suitable for any level, its ski resorts, and the valleys to explore on horseback or snowshoes.
The must-see stops of this destination are Norcia, with its splendid Piazza San Benedetto; Cascia, with the famous Sanctuary of Santa Rita; the picturesque hamlet of Visso, surrounded by greenery; the vast expanse of the Piani di Castelluccio, which become a veritable spectacle of nature during florescence; Mount Vettore peaking at 2,476 metres and the evocative lakes of Fiastra and Pilato at almost 2,000 metres of altitude.
This is also a land of great gastronomic excellences, such as the Ciauscolo, a soft salami of peasant origins, and the famous Prosciutto Crudo di Norcia PGI. Norcia gives its name to the ancient craft of sausage production, known as “Norcineria“. Let’s not forget the delicious lentils of Castelluccio di Norcia PGI and the prized black truffle.
