Gran Paradiso and Gran San Bernardo are two of the most popular destinations of Valle d’Aosta, especially among lovers of alpine landscapes and high altitude sports.
Gran Paradiso is located between the Valle di Cogne and Valsavarenche and is the only mountain above 4,000 metres entirely within Italian territory. The first national park in Italy was created here in 1922 in the area that was the Savoy hunting reserve. The idea was to save the ibex, which at the time was at serious risk of extinction. Since then, it has become a place loved by hikers from around the world, who trek the many paths that wind their way through marvellous alpine landscapes, looking for a glimpse of the animals that live in this true natural paradise.
The Colle del Gran San Bernardo also provides thrilling experiences for lovers of the mountains, offering hikes and climbing, superb skiing areas and events associated with the area’s alpine traditions. Gran Paradiso and Gran San Bernardo will give you the chance to discover the natural heart of the Alps of Aosta!
