The Gargano is known as the “spur of Italy”, given its placement on the “heel of the Italian boot”. A wonderful land, typically Mediterranean, characterized by 150 km of varied and jagged coastline that does not go unnoticed, especially for its waters of rare transparency in the Adriatic Sea.
This part of Puglia has everything: a fantastic sea, exceptional villages, including the white Vieste and the renowned seaside resort of Peschici, a territory that is itself a National Park, an extraordinary natural protected area that culminates in the Umbrian Forest, Lake Varano, the largest lake in southern Italy. If that were not enough, there are the lovely Tremiti Islands, which also belong to this rich corner of paradise. Songwriter Lucio Dalla madly fell in love with them, settled there and found inspiration for some of his famous songs. Also, be aware that you will eat very well in the Gargano.
