Benevento & Caserta

The province of Caserta extends from the beach of Baia Domizia along the Tyrrhenian Sea to Matese, and encapsulates a rich variety of landscapes, villages such as Cerreto Sannita, and unique natural surroundings like the Parco del Grassano, large cities such as Aversa and those rich in history like Caserta itself and Sessa Aurunca with its marvellous Roman theatre. In the heart of the Sannio region, you will find the Matese Regional Park, the gateway to the Southern Appennines, with its lofty peaks reaching up to 2000 m, a perfect spot for winter sports, and the delightful WWF oasis of Montagna di Sopra at Pannarano. And you must not miss a visit to one of the cheese producers in the area where they produce the best buffalo mozzarella . However, there is no access to the sea from the province of Benevento, the capital of Langobardia Minor for 500 years and the only papal city in Southern Italy, suspended between magic and faith. Here, legends of witches live side by side with the holiness of Padre Pio. The landscape of mountains and sanctuaries, lakes and farmland offers visitors a unique sense of spiritual wellbeing. And the tiny rural villages perched high on the hills offer an excellent culinary tradition, perfectly matched by a superb glass of Falanghina.
