In most major cities, you will encounter Italians who speak decent English and who can help you with your inquiries. However, it is considered polite to speak as slowly and clearly as possible. Regardless, it is generally appreciated when one makes an attempt at some of the Italian basics such as per favore, grazie, prego, dove’, and parla l’inglese?
MONEY
Prior to departure, be sure to secure at least €100EU for taxis and snacks at the airport. However, our recommended method of arriving in Italia is with very little cash in hand. Plan on using your credit cards when possible, preferably Visa and MasterCard. To get cash, we recommend using your ATM card. This allows you to withdraw the cash you need, avoid commissions, and get the most accurate exchange rate.
